National Window Films® have just come back from an out of this world project to protect Tim Peake’s Spacecraft from UV fading during its temporary exhibition from 27th September – 19th November 2017 at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.
After a detailed consultation between the client and our Technical Team, 3M™External Prestige 70 was chosen for the front elevation glazing and the darker 3M™ External Prestige 40 for the high level, south facing rear elevation. The installation had to be planned to avoid the Museum’s 7 days a week opening hours and was completed over 5 very early mornings, with our installers off site by 10am. The project was completed on time and on budget.
“National Window Films® offer a high quality, professional and reliable service. They helped us to source the most effective solution for this project and ensured it was installed in a time efficient and managed way. The application of the UV window film was an essential part of the preparatory works we required to be able to display Tim Peake’s Spacecraft and we are grateful to NWF for their expertise and helpful approach” – Kate Davies, Creative Producer at the National Science and Media Musuem.
The Science Museum Group acquired the Soyuz TMA-19M in 2016, and along with global technology innovators Samsung are presenting The National Tour of Tim Peake’s Spacecraft and Space Descent VR. The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford is the first stop for the capsule accompanied by the unique virtual reality adventure which, using Samsung Gear VR technology, places visitors right at the heart of Tim Peake’s journey from the International Space Station back to Earth.
